So.... check out these beauties! Not only are they a nice looking bunch but they're also fun! I'd also like to point out that they had perfectly coordinated outfits... When I recommend that families choose a color palette and then base all of the outfits around the color choices (instead of all matching outfits)... THIS is exactly what I mean :)

Size DOES Matter!

When choosing prints, gallery wrapped canvases or framed prints for your home, you tend to think that a 16 x 20 size will fit nicely in those large spaces... in your living room, above the sofa or in the dining room behind the table... but once you look at this diagram, you see that in comparison, a 16 x 20 size is not very large! This 30 x 40 wrapped canvas fits the space much better. If you'd like to stick with the 16 x 20, you could always order three or four different prints ro coordinate the space together.

A nice way to feel confident about the sizes you are choosing is to draw your size on a piece of paper to make a template. Place your template in different areas of your home to see how the size will compliment the room and go from there! If you ever have any questions about size selection, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Hello all! No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth... so sorry for the lack of posting this week! My family and I are moving - staying local, only a few miles from where we currently are - and it's been a ton of work packing the house. Moving is no fun. It's been super hot and exhausting. However, the end is near... Sunday (tomorrow) is moving day and I hope to have our life organized and back in order within this week. Fingers crossed!

While playing catch up editing portraits from some really fantastic sessions the past couple of weeks as well as looking for a new place, and celebrating the news of a baby on the way, it only seemed appropriate to post some pics of what life feels like right about now. Loving every second of it, of course!

These were taken at an Autocross Event held in Orlando by the Martin Sports Car Club. And, if you can't tell... that's Matt in the driver's seat racing his BMW. I think he may even be smiling for the camera in this bottom photo!

Family Day in the Park

An amazing day outside with the sunlight bouncing off all the colors in nature and, of course, a beautiful family, was all it took to create a great photo session last week.

This little guy was not entirely into having his portrait taken. He was much more interested in climbing the trees and playing. And, that ended up being perfect, because these are some of my favorite shots from the session.

Last week this little one, her mother & Tiffany met up at Tiffany's favorite local garden spot for her photo session. She is already very glamorous, and I started singing this song in my head while putting up her images for this blog post. I think it was the long pearl necklace and flower in her hair that did it. If you look a little closer, you'll notice not a detail was missed... even her fingernails were polished!

She is such a doll, and stunning in purple. All of the colors around her just make her eyes sparkle.

You can definitely see her personality in every shot that Tiffany took, and you can tell... she enjoys being a girl!

Emergency Engagement Session!

This past week, I received an email from a bride-to-be that needed to schedule Engagement Portraits within the week... I LOVE engagement sessions so I was so excited! With a little creative scheduling, we were able to make it happen ASAP for her and I am soooo glad that we did.

Meet Autumn and Randy: A super sweet couple that is scheduled to be married in June of 2011. I assumed - which I should stop doing - that it would take them some time to warm up to my camera... wow, was I wrong! They ROCKED it from the very beginning :) They teased each other, looking lovingly at one another, genuinely laughed - it was perfect! It doesn't get any better than that! ;) We had a ton of fun during their session... I love my job!

I later found out that the reason for the rush on the engagement portraits, was because Randy was leaving the next day with the service. Not only was I documenting their love for each other, I was documenting one of the last night's they'd have together for a while. They were so strong in their love and knew that a few months apart wouldn't shake them - they were up for the challenge and Autumn knew she'd stay busy with wedding planning :) I could tell from the hour that I spent with them, that they are such a wonderful couple and I know that they will live happily ever after!

Photojournalistic Portraits & Traditional Portraits

The photojournalistic approach to photography has become very popular for recording events in recent years. But, not everyone knows exactly what the term means. When the camera was invented, there was only one way to pose for a portrait... by standing very still for a very long time. Which is why when you look at much older photos, no one is smiling. Again, when digital cameras were introduced, photographers needed their subjects to hold a pose to be sure they captured them. As technology has changed, photographers using digital cameras can now capture shots as they occur.

Photojournalistic images are produced when the photographer takes images without directing or changing your event. A story is being told through your photos. And, you can often see the whole story from just one image.

Traditional portraits on the other hand, are generally setup and the individuals are posed. You're given time to fix your hair and make sure there's nothing in your teeth. They also require time away from your event.

One isn't better than the other. Many people decide that they'd like a little of both for their sessions, which is a great option to choose (especially for weddings). No matter what, the most important person is YOU... and you ultimately deserve to get what you want from your session!

"What should we wear for our portrait session?" We completely understand how intimidating the idea of coordinating an entire family's outfits may be, but choosing your look can be lots of fun! After doing some looking around ourselves, we decided that it would be helpful to put a Spring look together for the whole family.

Our main advice is to Coordinate your look, not necessarily Match. It's a good idea to choose two to four colors that complement each other and stick with them. Our color palette for this Spring look was green, blue, white and black. Of course, adding accessories can be a blast too... chunky jewelry, a fun scarf or hat, tights and LAYERS! Really, just have fun with it. More suggestions like this one to come. We hope you find it helpful!

A Good Day to Go Outside & Play!

After all the nasty rain that we've had the past couple of days, it's so nice to get back to our gorgeous Florida Spring Weather. Spring Break...Spring Break... Spring Break! All the little ones in our area have the whole week off, and they are already enjoying it. It's a blast to see them running around playing. It brings back such great memories. I think once I'm all done here, I'm going to go out and enjoy the weather myself. But, before that happens... here are some fun pics of a recent session. I think they evoke the feeling of Spring Break pretty well!

It was a beautiful day just like today when these were taken. This little guy was great at finding quality daydreaming time.

Of course, we were at a park, so he made room for plenty of playtime as well.

I think he really enjoyed "hamming it up" for the camera. This last one is one of my favorites from the session. It completely shows off his personality.

Not your average maternity portraits...

You will probably recognize this adorable Mommy-to-be from her past appearances on the Tiffany Yates Photography blog! I began working with this family over a year ago when their little boy was only a few months old. I've enjoyed working and getting to know them and was sooo excited to hear that their sweet family was growing! Little Zanthias is such a cutie pie.... you know his brother or sister (they aren't finding out... how neat!) will be just as cute and lovable!

Unfortunately, they will be moving to Ohio this coming week, so we put together a spur-of-the-moment maternity session before they left. I had it in my mind that this Mommy deserved something more than the typical maternity shots... she needed something totally different and unique to her. Wow, did she rock the session!!! :) I'm really loving how the portraits are coming out already... and wanted to share a sneak peek with the blog readers. A Beautiful Girl & Her Best Friend!

These are some of the photos from a session that Tiffany did this past weekend. Just a beautiful model and her adorable pup. We love that she wanted her session done with her beloved pet. It added a lot of compassion to the photos, and some really great textures!

Such a happy little one as long as he's close to his mommy.

Of course, we couldn't we couldn't go without taking some fantastic shots of just our model. Her outfit choice was perfect. She wasn't at all afraid to throw in some color and patterns, and the color of the water complements them so well.

Our Spring Mini Sessions are just a couple of weeks away, and after scouting multiple locations, we've finally found the setting that will be used. We thought it'd be nice to post some pictures of the area so that our viewers can get a good idea of how gorgeous it is. And of course, Zachary is such an adorable model, we had to include some of him too... even though he wasn't too thrilled about modelling for his mommy again!

First Expressions!

We're all very familiar with the saying "you only get one chance to make a first impression," but we also only get one chance to capture "first expressions." Some of the sweetest, funniest and most peculiar faces are seen on infants just a few days old. Earlier this week, Tiffany got the opportunity to spend some time with this beautiful, nine-day old baby boy, and capture some of his first expressions.

There's nothing better than enjoying a little cat nap on a warm, fluffy blanket.

It looks like he'd like his hat back.

Sweet and cuddly now that his head is nice and cozy again. It must be the poms on it that are making him smirk!

The wonders of Spring

Spring is such a beautiful time of the year. Out of the bitter cold, new life arrives all around us. The sun shines on us, and often we find ourselves closing our eyes, turning our heads upwards and drawing a deep breath in to capture a perfect moment. Infants, born any time, give us this same feeling of pure warmth. We love capturing images of infants in their first couple of weeks, providing parents with memorable photographs that they can keep forever and use for their arrival announcements. Lately, we have noticed that many new parents are including sweet poems to introduce their babies. This past Wednesday, Tiffany Yates Photography attended the City of Rockledge & Cocoa Beach Chamber's annual Wednesday Friendsday Table Top Expo. We had a great time and got to meet wonderful people. These networking events are so important to continuing the growth of our community and a huge benefit to each of the businesses involved. We can't wait to attend the next one.

I have to say, one of my favorite parts of photographing families is seeing the kids change and the families grow... Melissa, has so graciously, allowed me to photograph her family a few times over the past year and I was so thankful to be called again as they just welcomed their new addition, little Jacob (he's soooo cute!). It was wonderful photographing these beautiful girls! Rosemary, Magnolia and Azalea are gorgeous sisters with adorable personalities. Their Mom dressed them in this super cute tutu's and we couldn't have picked a better setting to capture some moments to treasure forever! I really enjoyed working with this sweet, sweet family last weekend! Our session was delayed about 30 minutes due to a horrendus thunderstorm passing through the area. We decided to wait it out and hope that it would clear up.... I'm so glad that we did! The storm passed and we were able to capture some really touching moments for this family. Little Femi, who is 20 months, was soooo cute! He will soon be joined by twin sisters.... sometime within the next month or so! What a beautiful family! :)

I was extremely honored to be present for this special time! This couple, vacationing from Texas, planned to renew their vows while at the beach - at SUNRISE! They said that they couldn't think of a better way to laugh in the face of the "7 year itch" than to renew their vows! I love that :) When they originally got married, there was no wedding. No white dress. No flowers. No special wedding photos. So, this was their moment. This was their opportunity to create some special memories of a beautiful bride and a handsome groom, totally in love. Here they are, 7 years into their marriage, parents to 3 little boys and extremely happy. I was so glad to meet you and share this moment in your life. What a fun family session this was :) We'd originally planned our session for a different location and once we got there, it was a bit disappointing. So we drove down the street to this little spot that I've been itching to photograph for a while. This was a perfect example of how everything happens for a reason.... the new location was awesome! :) We did a lot of exploring (despite the hot, hot weather!) and we did a lot of chatting too. This little family was so sweet. Jessica and Angelo are both incredibly talented graphic designers AND photographer's (Jessica is photographing my son's upcoming Birthday party!). It was an absolute pleasure to spend the afternoon with them and their adorably cute, Beni. I hope you enjoy the sneak peek :)

Oh, how I love relaxed, fun sessions like this! This beautiful young lady is my cousin, Brooke. We ventured out to achieve some fresh, trendy portraits for the start of the new school year. I was honored to work with this family for some family portraits after welcoming their precious baby girl, Sara. We had a very relaxed portrait session at their home, which made the kids much more comfortable. It was really great working with this family and their cute little boy, Leland. Little Leland is 3.5 months... and already has a a big personality. This was his first trip to the beach and although I'm not sure he was crazy about the sand, he enjoyed it long enough to get some family portraits! Leland even brought his dog along with him (who is a certified therapy dog and soooo well behaved!) .... what a beautiful family!

I worked with Leah this past week on some fun and edgy Senior Portraits... and we had a blast! Leah is a Class of 2010 Senior and is really looking forward to her Senior year in high school. We were a little worried that the thunderstorms earlier in the day would keep us from this Senior session.... but the skies cleared up, just in time! It was so great to see this family again :) I'd previously taken Zanthias' 6 month portraits and here we are, already 3 months later, at 9 months old! I love being able to see my favorite little clients grow and change... but it's also sad to see how fast time flies and how quickly they grow! Working with families as great as this one, remind me of how much I love what I do!

I was contacted by this family to create their family portraits. You may remember seeing Stephen - the oldest son - from his recent high school senior portraits, and I was honored that they chose to work with me again! I was excited to work with this family and meet these adorable kids because I'd gone to high school with their Mom and hadn't seen her in years! These cuties were full of personality --- Ms. Ah'Breanna was all smiles (she looooves the camera and has a gorgeous smile!) and Semaj wanted to do his own thing. He was totally uninterested in my plan... this, however worked just fine with me, because I was able to snag some great photos of him, without him knowing! :)

I met these little ones in the park last week for a portrait session and they were so well behaved and lots of fun! Check out this gorgeous family! We met at The Portofino Bay hotel in Orlando and it was a beautiful day for family portraits. Don't you just love their colorful, coordinating outfits?! It was wonderful getting to know them and learning about their family and the boys personalities. Having four handsome boys like this is sure to have the girls knocking down their door later! ;)

These precious little ones are Connor and Leah... and they are soooo cute!

We met at the beach for an afternoon session and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day :) The kids had fun playing in the sand, tip-toeing in the water and even brought a new kite to fly! This past weekend, I met up with Rene and Jaimey at the beach to take some maternity portraits. They are expecting their first child, a baby girl, this July. Rene absolutely has the Mommy-to-be glow! This is Haleigh, a local high school senior who will be graduating this year. Haleigh wanted some different portraits, rather than the typical "Senior Photos" that you see so often. This gorgeous newly engaged couple is Stephen and Ashley. Can't you tell that they have the "just engaged" glow?! I was honored when they asked me to photograph their engagement portraits! They are from Jacksonville, Florida where Ashley is a teacher and Stephen has just finished law school. The two plan to marry in the Summer of 2010. We had so much fun during the session.... it wasn't hard to capture the fun personality of this couple and the amount of love that they have for each other. Congratulations Stephen and Ashley!!!! Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Tara! She just celebrated her 9th Birthday and her Mom wanted some new photos that captured her sweet personality. Tara was a little shy around the camera at first --- but really warmed up to me :)

You wouldn't guess it by looking at these pictures, but Tara is learning Karate and I hear she's doing awesome! She currently has 4 sisters and is looking forward to meeting her baby brother that is on the way.... Maybe she can teach him a few karate moves one day! ;)

I am a photographer based in Rockledge, Florida specializing in Children's Portraiture. I have a love of photography, specifically casual children's portraits which capture the personality of the child. I had always been interested in photography and after having my son, my passion turned into my career. My son, Zachary Parker, is an inspiration to me every single day.

My photos are not taken in a studio, they are mostly taken outdoors, where the child can be themselves and have fun -- resulting in a beautiful, natural photo.

I am looking to expand my portfolio to show a more diverse collection of photography, so I am running a special promotional price through the end of April 2009.

My price includes: An on-location (Rockledge, Viera, Merritt Island or Cocoa) mini-session with your child, resulting in 20 - 25 final images on a CD (which will be mailed to you) for only $45. Once you receive the CD, you are free to email the photos or make prints as you choose. Please add $15 for each additional person.
